Most wellness apps promise calm and deliver complexity. Cluttered interfaces, aggressive notification cycles, and feature bloat that turns self-reflection into another chore. The opportunity was clear: build something that felt as quiet and intentional as a physical journal — but with the intelligence of a digital system underneath.

Reflexion was conceived as a development showcase from day one. No client brief. No external pressure. Just a commitment to prove what we could design and engineer entirely from scratch, manually, with zero AI assistance.

Reflexion is built with React Native and Expo, backed by Supabase and a clean REST API — iOS, Android, and web from a single codebase, engineered entirely by hand with zero AI assistance. Users log mood across five levels, tag contributing factors, and write freely in a rich text editor with image support. Two standout features: Letters to Future You (scheduled messages to yourself) and home screen widgets for mood and motivation at a glance. A stats layer analyses patterns over time, and daily inspiration quotes anchor each morning.

Reflexion reached near-App Store-ready state — complete backend, frontend, database, and widget layer all functioning. It was always a development showcase, and it delivers exactly what it set out to prove: that Purple Softworks can design and engineer a complete, polished, multi-platform consumer product from nothing, with zero AI tooling and without a client or brief.

The app wasn't abandoned — it was redirected. As client work and other ventures demanded focus, Reflexion settled naturally into its intended role: a portfolio piece that proves capability. Every architectural decision, every UI interaction, every data model was made by hand. And that proof doesn't expire.
